National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil College of Nursing, Ahilyanagar, was established during the academic year 2017–18 with a sanctioned strength of 50 NSS volunteers, under the guidance and approval of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a flagship youth development programme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, launched in 1969 during the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. The programme aims to develop the personality of students through active participation in community service while fostering social responsibility, leadership, and national integration.
The NSS Unit of the college serves as an important platform for nursing students to apply their knowledge and skills in addressing community health needs while promoting the values of compassion, selfless service, and social commitment. Through regular outreach activities, students gain practical experience in community engagement and contribute to the overall well-being of society.

As per the guidelines of MUHS, Nashik, eligible NSS volunteers receive 10 additional marks, added to the aggregate marks of the final year university examination.
